The ability to think creatively and develop original ideas serves us greatly in life. Whether it’s at home, at school, or in our lives beyond, innovating and having confidence in our ideas is hugely important. Critical thinking is also essential to help us find solutions to problems, evaluate options and think strategically.
Our Creative Problem Solving course develops your child’s ability to think creatively to find different ways to approach a task. Learning how to think creatively can help them feel confident and increase their readiness to embrace new challenges. Developing critical thinking can also help them feel more independent, giving them the tools and strategies to approach life in a new way.
The course is designed to develop the key skills of creativity and critical thinking. The week includes lots of fun activities which encourage the children to use their critical thinking to solve problems, and use their creativity to come up with new ideas. Specific activities include working as a team to empty a bucket of ‘toxic waste’, designing their own ‘Dragon’s Den’ innovative product as well as pitching their idea, and solving a series of short challenges in a fixed amount of time.
Session 1: What is Creativity
What is creativity and why is it important? How is creativity linked to mindset?
Session 2: Problem Solving Steps
What steps should we follow when approaching a problem? Application of this process to specific problems and everyday challenges.
Session 3: Innovation
How do we do something with creativity? Practising our creativity muscle and learning ways to innovate.
Session 4: Critical thinking
How do we make decisions and think independently? Applying this to group work.
Session 5: Growing my Creativity
What kills creativity? What are the best conditions for creative thinking? How can I be my most creative self?
Our courses are fast-paced, high energy and challenging. Your child will be active, engaged and up on their feet. None of the tasks are easy; in fact, we don’t mind if the children struggle with the exercises at the first attempt. It is through this process that resilience and strength of character can be built, in a positive and supportive environment.
Our courses are built on three elements:
How do you feel about creativity? In order to be our most creative we must let go of the fear of making mistakes! You will be solving lots of challenges and tasks with the other children.
Our courses are not designed just for children who struggle with creativity, problem solving and independent thinking; we believe everyone should be developing this important life skill. Your child may already have a great imagination but perhaps needs to develop their independence or their resilience when problem solving. Working creatively with others throughout the week can help boost general self-confidence and your child’s perception of their own creative potential. The course is a great way for children to explore being outside of their comfort zone within a fun and supportive environment.
Our highly experienced team of Role Models are passionate about both education and social & emotional wellbeing. They’re energetic, engaging, and curious. They’re adept at combining educational rigour with fun, to create active learning environments that children love. All have been interviewed by our Recruitment Team and are reference and DBS checked.
Meet Brigid:
The Role Models Life Skills programme includes 8 different courses for children in Years 1-6 (ages 5-7 & 8-11). These separate courses can be completed in any order, or on their own.
Our courses follow an education framework developed by teachers, education experts and business leaders. This framework, based on the work of the Partnership for 21st century learning, defines the skills and knowledge that children need to thrive at school, at home and beyond. Our courses have been written by our Character Education team who are highly qualified educators. Our course content emphasises the importance of developing life and career skills alongside academic attainment. You can read more about the other courses which we offer here and you can read more about the partnership for 21st Century learning here.
Yes we do! You can either book a standard day (10am – 3pm) or an extended day (8.30am until 6pm). Our course content will only run between the hours of a standard day. Outside of these hours, one of our Creative Childcare Role Models will join the children to run extra-curricular games and activities.
You can select which days you extend based on your needs, as extended hours are charged per day, at £25. Please note: if you select an extended day, you can collect your children before 6pm, but will still be charged for the full day. Please book a standard day at the checkout and then call us to add the extended day package on +44 20 3637 7107 or email [email protected]
When you purchase more than one course place, you will receive a £50 discount on each subsequent course place, i.e.
£50 discount if you purchase two course places in one transaction;

This means if you are booking for a sibling or planning ahead and booking multiple courses you can take advantage of this offer.

We also offer a £50 refer-a-friend discount. After you make your booking you will receive a personalised coupon code via email. If another parent uses your code, they will receive a £25 off their booking and we will automatically refund you £50. This code can be used by an unlimited number of friends and you will receive a £50 refund each time it is used (until the amount you paid for your course has been refunded in full).
Mara - a Switzerland parent
The structure of the session was very helpful in warming up the kids, the selected stories were awesome and memorable, the teacher was fun and engaging, it was great for my daughter to hear the stories and experiences of other kids and realising how her difficulties are shared by others. A+++++
Claire - a London parent
Thanks so much for the course the other week. Although it was my son taking the course with you, our whole family is benefiting. Together, we're working on Power of Yet and trying to focus more on the process rather than the outcome. Your impacts are still being felt and experienced in our household.
Lotte - a London parent
My son has made an excellent start to the new year at school and this is where I have noticed the impact of the course. His confidence is more secure and he is really trying at school and doing very well. The daily emails on the course were welcome, to know what he had done each day was very helpful
Amanda - a London parent
I just wanted to say another huge thank you for this session. I was so impressed with the way it was structured. You captured their attention immediately and the content was so relevant for my kids with some great take homes which we will hopefully work on embedding into the everyday.
Gail - a London parent
She said she wished school was like this. She absolutely loved it. Thank you.
Tessa - a London parent
This is wonderful, He is thoroughly enjoying the course. He was so positive and happy about the fact that he had started out drawing a zebra but it ended up being a Lion! I loved hearing this as I know he would usually have had a meltdown saying he’s got it all wrong!
Etta - a Saudi Arabia parent
She has been a lot more tolerant & better at problem solving in a mature manner especially with her younger sister.
Sally - a London parent
Can I just say that today’s session was absolutely brilliant! You kept my 6 year old son totally engaged and interactive the whole time - he was absolutely engrossed the entire session. He has been a nightmare to ‘home school’ this week but as you ended the session today, he asked for more! Great work!! Thank you!
