Topics to explore in your custom sessions

Creating a positive mindset

Children’s reactions to situations often stem from what they’re thinking. Knowing how your mind can work for you, rather than against you, is a powerful approach to learning and life in general. Perfectionism can set in from a very young age and often stems from a fear of mistakes and judgement of others.

Help your child feel confident

We can also explore the following aspects to help your child feel confident and build a growth mindset:

  • Think good things about themselves
  • Learn to take risks and try new experiences
  • Let go of fearing mistakes and failure and feel proud of what they can do
  • Believe in their own capabilities and learn to like themselves
  • Learn to think positively when faced with a challenge
  • Move from ‘I can’t’ to ‘I can’t YET’

Building your Custom Course or Sessions

You can choose what sessions you would like, when you would like them, how many you would like and how many children are involved. If you have any other specific needs, please do get in contact and we will see what we can do! Please contact us on [email protected]

Our Life Skills sessions are for ages 8-11 and 12-13 and teach children how to tackle adversity through serious fun, ambitious content and active learning.

Our Brilliant Me sessions, which are introductory sessions to our Life Skills sessions, are for ages 5-7, use the power of story to help children explore how to see things and think differently about them. What a revelation to find out that we are supposed to find new things hard and that the mistakes we make actually help us learn!

Customised Breakdown Questions

In this customised programme, we can focus on what you want most for your child. To give you a better idea, please find an overview of exemplary session contents below.

Brilliant Me Courses and Sessions:  Each day a story is shared with the children based around the power of our mindset. Then, creative activities help them link the learning within the story to their everyday lives. Daily mindfulness activities are included to help the children learn to manage their emotions, as well as a daily ‘mission’ which is a simple task set to challenge them to embed their learning. Brilliant ‘Billy’ the bunny accompanies the children throughout the sessions and is used as a distancing tool; talking about certain situations Billy might think negatively in can sometimes be an easier step than talking directly about our own experiences.

The stories shared can move around the following themes to name a few:

  1. Developing a ‘Can-Do’ attitude
  2. The power of YET
  3. Feeling stuck
  4. Dealing with unhelpful thoughts
  5. Different ways to show confidence
  6. Being awesome
  7. What do I like about myself?
  8. Finding my big voice
  9. Doing things I might not be good at

Life Skills Courses and Sessions: The children learn the theory behind each concept in the morning and then take part in fun activities/challenges to really embed what they have learnt. Each of our Life Skills Courses  and Sessions  has a different focus. See below for an example of some of the themes on Resilience:

  1. What is a growth mindset?
  2. Making mistakes
  3. Comfort zone
  4. The power of our thoughts
  5. Emotional Resilience

We all have our own fears and the customised course or sessions  is specifically designed for you to have some serious fun!

  • You will have a face to face session led by a dedicated Role Model and just for you or people you know
  • You can wear comfortable clothes and have a drink nearby in case you need it
  • It will be a fun session of talking, thinking, listening to stories and drawing
  • Your Role Model would love you tell us your ideas and feelings during the activities, so talking is encouraged! But if there’s anything you don’t want to do, you can just sit and listen
  • We can’t wait to meet you and learn some awesome new skills together!

The Role Models Life Skills programme includes 8 different topics for children in Years 1-8 (ages 5-7, 8-11 & 12-13). These separate topics can be completed in any order, or on their own.

Our courses follow an education framework developed by teachers, education experts and business leaders. This framework, based on the work of the Partnership for 21st century learning, defines the skills and knowledge that children need to thrive at school, at home and beyond. Our courses have been written by our Character Education team who are highly qualified educators. Our course content emphasises the importance of developing life and career skills alongside academic attainment.

Our customised courses and sessions are fast-paced, high energy and challenging. Your child will be active, engaged and up on their feet (even in online sessions). None of the tasks are easy; in fact, we don’t mind if the children struggle with the exercises at the first attempt. It is through this process that resilience and strength of character can be built, in a positive and supportive environment.

Our courses are built on three elements:

Active learning
Ambitious content
Serious fun
