One to One Online Leadership Programme – 3 Sessions

Our One to One Online Leadership Programme helps children understand how they can have a positive impact on those around them, why happiness matter for leaders, understanding how unique you are and so much more.

It is made up of 3 x 90 minute online sessions with a trained Role Model. The sessions will take place on ‘Zoom’ software (which can be downloaded) from their home.

After completing the first 3 sessions, each student can complete 5 further online sessions. The cost of these 5 further sessions is £450.

Leadership in everyday situations

Leadership is about having a positive impact on those around you and this programme seeks to explore the many ways we can demonstrate ‘everyday leadership’ in the choices and actions we make. Leadership also requires an in depth understanding of ourselves, including our own strengths and qualities in order to use these to impact others. 

During this programme, the student will learn more about themselves through:

  • Understanding their unique attributes and personality
  • Knowing their own character strengths and how they can use them to live, learn and lead to their potential
  • Learning how to thrive in the good times and through adversity

They will learn how to lead others through:

  • Understanding that everyone can be a leader if they are having a positive impact on those around them
  • Thinking about ways they can use their unique strengths to positively impact those around them
  • Developing their strength of character through practice and reflection
  • Thinking about what their impact is and what they want it to be

Programme Breakdown Questions

The 90 minute sessions will be run on a software called Zoom. The student will need to have access to a device that has the internet, runs PowerPoint and facilitates the use of audio and camera (webcam).

Please note that a free Zoom account and Zoom client software for PC, Mac or Linux is required in order to participate in these sessions. If you have not used Zoom before, please use these links to learn how to download the necessary software and then register an account.

Getting Started

Creating an Account

(You can register with your name/email as the parent, as during the first session it is possible to change the name displayed on the camera screen to your child’s.)

Other notes on the online course:

  • Your child will need a quiet space for the sessions and a computer/laptop/iPad with internet connection
  • The sessions will be interactive so they will need to be seen (using the computer camera/webcam) and heard (using the computer microphone or headset)
  • They will need a pen/pencil and paper during the sessions
  • It’s important the children are relaxed and comfortable; if possible please do help them get set up for the first session and be on hand for any technical difficulties.
  • Following that, we find these sessions work best when the children are given the independence to complete them alone rather than having other people listening and watching nearby. However please feel free to listen if you would like to!
  • The content of the sessions will include discussion, games, watching videos, and sharing thoughts and ideas with the group. The children will at times be required to type using the keyboard and answer verbally

Our trained Role Models will guide children through the following 3 session online programme:

  1. Understanding who you uniquely are 
  2. Living, learning and leading with my character strengths
  3. Happiness and why it matters for leaders

The full Online Leadership Programme is made up of 8 x 1-2-1 sessions of 90 mins and you can book the final 5 sessions once you have completed the 3 session trial.  

The final 5 sessions cover the following topics:

  1. Thriving in the good times and in adversity (1)
  2. Thriving in the good times and in adversity (2)
  3. Everyday leadership
  4. Leading for impact
  5. Reflection and application

The Role Model and the child will combine practical exercises and one-to-one discussions. These discussions will give the child the time (which they so rarely have) to think deeply about how they see themselves  and how they can flourish.

Some example activities within these sessions include:

-Completing a character strengths survey and planning how to use their top 5 strengths

-Gratitude walk

-Planning ‘lollipop’ moments; commitment to acts of kindness to impact others


This  unique programme for children aged 9-14 has been  designed and developed by Katy Granville-Chapman, Director of the Wellington College Leadership Institute.The programme is inspired by Harvard Business School’s Leadership Initiative; The University of Pennsylvania’s Positive Psychology Centre; The University of Oxford’s Department of Education and The University of Melbourne’s Positive Education Centre.

In her role as the Director of the Wellington College Leadership Institute, Katy has developed leadership programmes that have been quality assured by Oxford University and others that have been used as flagship programmes by the Government. Katy has also advised on character and leadership at 10 Downing Street, the Cabinet Office, England rugby and for a vast array of schools and charities from over 20 countries, including Singapore, South Africa and Australia. 

This programme is suitable for any child who needs a boost in confidence and self-belief, or who needs reminding of the many positive qualities they possess and how to use them. The 1-2-1 set up allows for intensive yet personal support from an inspiring Role Model. The programme works well for children who find it easier to open up on a 1-2-1 basis and those who are ready to discuss and explore such concepts in depth. Children often find these self reflection conversations much easier with an inspiring Role Model rather than with a parent and our Role Models are great at building rapport and a positive relationship. 

The Role Model working with your child will keep you updated on how the sessions are progressing and they will also complete an end of programme report. This will outline what progress they feel your child has made and any specific areas they have observed as areas for further development.
