Coronavirus Guidelines for Creative Childcare

Updated Apr 8, 2020

Our top priorities are to keep our families and Role Models safe and healthy, and to help public health authorities fight the spread of the virus. Please follow the official NHS advice at all times.

Please tell your Role Model and us if you or anyone in your household has symptoms of coronavirus infection (a new continuous cough or high temperature), however mild. Your family should self-isolate for 14 days and your Role Model should not come to work. It is essential that you inform your Role Model as soon as you get symptoms and ask him/her not to come to work. Please also email [email protected] to inform us.

Role Models are instructed not to come to work in case they are displaying symptoms and to inform you immediately. We encourage them to check 111 online in case they’re unsure.

Should you wish to discuss the above, please do not hesitate to contact us either by email on [email protected] or give us a call on 020 3637 7107

Creative Childcare FAQs

Are we allowed to use Role Models at the moment?

The Prime Minister announced on Monday 23rd March 2020 that leaving the house is only permitted in certain circumstances. One of these was “Travelling to and from work, but only where this absolutely cannot be done from home.”

Role Models cannot perform their duties from home and they need to travel, so Role Models travelling to work appear to fall within the exception. However, your family should carefully consider whether your Role Model is essential, considering the nature of your work and the impact of their travel on society.

In any case, during this period we recommend only one Role Model or nanny working with one family, with both practising social distancing from all others. Role Models are instructed to walk or cycle to the family’s home in order to avoid public transport. Alternatively, some families are choosing to drive their Role Model by car.

We strongly encourage you to talk to your Role Model about their living situation and commute, to make sure that they are following social distancing guidelines. We are also regularly communicating with our Role Models about how to stay as safe and healthy as possible.

How can my Role Model get to work?

The official advice is currently to avoid public transportation and in London, public transport should only be used by key workers. Therefore and to be compliant with government guidelines, here are ways you could solve the issue of how to get your Role Model to work:

  • Some parents are paying for Ubers for their Role Model each day, if the family and Role Model are more comfortable that way
  • Some parents with cars are driving to the Role Model’s house to pick them up each morning
  • Role Models with their own cars are happy to drive to and from parents homes to avoid public transport
  • Many Role Models are happy walking or cycling to work, even if they don’t normally

Schools and nurseries have shut – what should I do?

Many Role Models may be able to continue working or even work longer hours than normal (e.g. full days). Please discuss this directly with them.

If either you or your Role Model are self-isolating, or if you don’t need your Role Model right now, but think you will again in the future, please contact us for arrangements.

How can my Role Model help me while I’m at home?

For a lot of parents, their Role Model is going to be a key source of support for their family over the next few weeks, allowing them to keep working from home. When your Role Model is doing a great job in the next room, you’ll be able to concentrate on what you need to do too.

We want to let you know that in turn, we will be supporting our Role Models throughout this period.

We will:

  • Sending our Role Models activity ideas frequently to support your children’s’ active learning and to infuse some serious fun at home
  • Giving them tips on how to support schoolwork and ways to incorporate mindfulness to help focus and relax your children
  • Emphasising coronavirus safety to our Role Models, including frequent hand washing and social distancing in their non-Role Model lives

Our top priority is supporting our customers and staff members. If you have any suggestions for other support that would be helpful, just let us know either by email on [email protected] or give us a call on 020 3637 7107

What advice are we giving our Role Models?

We are instructing our Role Models that if they or anyone in their household develops coronavirus symptoms, however mild, they should inform the families they’re working with immediately and not go to work. We are also emphasising the need to wash hands frequently as per NHS advice. Click here for full details on the advice we are giving to Role Models.

Should you wish to discuss any of the above, please do not hesitate to contact us either by email on [email protected] or give us a call on 020 3637 7107.
