Developing resilience and a growth mindset can affect a child’s attitude and can also improve the way they learn in the classroom. Taking risks, dealing with setbacks, and pushing themselves to achieve more are all outcomes which can positively impact their education and attainment.
Helping your child to develop their resilience is one of the most effective ways to help them thrive at school, home and beyond. By developing a growth mindset, children can learn to push themselves outside of their comfort zone, embrace new experiences, challenges and persevere in areas that might not be their strengths. Understanding that intelligence and ability are not predetermined and that mistakes can help us learn, can have a huge impact on the way a child approaches life.
The week includes fun activities during which the children work together in teams or groups to solve different challenges. They will learn about the power of making mistakes, how ‘thinking traps’ can often affect feelings and behaviour, and the positive impact ‘reframing’ a situation can have. The children will explore how the mind works and begin to understand the concept of ‘neuroplasticity’. They will also touch upon other concepts within Positive Psychology which allow us to thrive.
What does resilience and growth mindset mean?
What’s the difference between a fixed mindset and a growth mindset? What mindset do we have?
Mistakes can be marvellous! What’s happening in our brains when we learn? (neuroplasticity)
What does it feel like to go outside of our comfort zone? Why is this important? What can we do when we feel anxious? Applying our resilience to our own situations, fears and worries.
The power of our thoughts
How do our thoughts, feelings and actions affect each other? What thinking traps do we fall into? How can we relate this to our everyday lives?
What about our emotions and responses? What does being emotionally resilient look like with my friends? family? as I grow older?
Please watch our Parent Webinar below to get a better sense for what our Resilience Course entails. This includes an overview of what your child will learn, together with ideas and strategies for supporting their learning at home:
Our courses are fast-paced, high energy and challenging. Your child will be active, engaged and up on their feet. None of the tasks are easy; in fact, we don’t mind if the children struggle with the exercises at the first attempt. It is through this process that resilience and strength of character can be built, in a positive and supportive environment.
Our courses are built on three elements:
You will learn all about a growth mindset and how to deal with any type of challenge. Do you ever have negative or unhelpful thoughts? You will find out how to deal with these and how to listen in to much more empowering thoughts instead.
Our courses are not designed just for children who struggle with resilience; we believe everyone should be developing this important life skill. The online programme is a great opportunity for any child to gain a better understanding of what a growth mindset looks, sounds and feels like and how powerful it can be when applied in different situations. They will learn that we don’t have to believe everything we think and that they can choose how to respond and react to the various challenges life inevitably throws at us. The online collaboration and communication with others throughout the programme can help boost general self-confidence and self-awareness. The course is a great way for children to explore being outside of their comfort zone within a fun and supportive environment.
Our highly experienced team of Role Models are passionate about both education and social & emotional wellbeing. They’re energetic, engaging, and curious. They’re adept at combining educational rigour with fun, to create active learning environments that children love. All have been interviewed by our Recruitment Team and are reference and DBS checked.
The Role Models Life Skills programme includes 8 different courses for children in Years 1-8 (ages 5-7, 8-11 & 11-13). These separate courses can be completed in any order, or on their own.
Our courses follow an education framework developed by teachers, education experts and business leaders. This framework, based on the work of the Partnership for 21st century learning, defines the skills and knowledge that children need to thrive at school, at home and beyond. Our courses have been written by our Character Education team who are highly qualified educators. Our course content emphasises the importance of developing life and career skills alongside academic attainment. You can read more about the other courses which we offer here and you can read more about the partnership for 21st Century learning here.
Yes we do! You can either book a standard day (10am – 3pm) or an extended day (8.30am until 6pm). Our course content will only run between the hours of a standard day. Outside of these hours, one of our Creative Childcare Role Models will join the children to run extra-curricular games and activities.
You can select which days you extend based on your needs, as extended hours are charged per day, at £25. Please note: if you select an extended day, you can collect your children before 6pm, but will still be charged for the full day. Please book a standard day at the checkout and then call us to add the extended day package on +44 20 3637 7107 or email [email protected]

Hugo - a London parent
We have noticed an enormous change in him since he started this course, and we have had some really useful discussions with him already. He is so much more willing to consider mistakes as part of growing now. He shared the Will Smith speech on failing early on Youtube this evening, which we found immensely helpful.
Mara - a Switzerland parent
The structure of the session was very helpful in warming up the kids, the selected stories were awesome and memorable, the teacher was fun and engaging, it was great for my daughter to hear the stories and experiences of other kids and realising how her difficulties are shared by others. A+++++
Lotte - a London parent
My son has made an excellent start to the new year at school and this is where I have noticed the impact of the course. His confidence is more secure and he is really trying at school and doing very well. The daily emails on the course were welcome, to know what he had done each day was very helpful
Tessa - a London parent
This is wonderful, He is thoroughly enjoying the course. He was so positive and happy about the fact that he had started out drawing a zebra but it ended up being a Lion! I loved hearing this as I know he would usually have had a meltdown saying he’s got it all wrong!
Etta - a Saudi Arabia parent
She has been a lot more tolerant & better at problem solving in a mature manner especially with her younger sister.
Sally - a London parent
Can I just say that today’s session was absolutely brilliant! You kept my 6 year old son totally engaged and interactive the whole time - he was absolutely engrossed the entire session. He has been a nightmare to ‘home school’ this week but as you ended the session today, he asked for more! Great work!! Thank you!
Claire - a London parent
My daughter is a smart cookie but this course helped her think beyond booksmarts, beyond facts in books and Google to what is possible. Thank you for developing her confidence in the application of her knowledge and seeing where the implementation of her creativity takes her.
Gail - a London parent
She said she wished school was like this. She absolutely loved it. Thank you.
