Jessie is an enthusiastic and conscientious multi-disciplinary creative based in London; theatre and film designer, maker, facilitator and teacher. She thrives on applying her own ideas to a project, working as part of a team and aiding children in taking ownership over their learning.
She graduated from the Winchester School of Art with a Fine Art degree in 2009 and initially worked at the Polka Theatre in Wimbledon as a scenic painter and props maker before embarking on a career in supporting and teaching children with special needs. She gained her QTS and OCR level 5 diploma in Dyslexia teaching. She has worked in the special educational needs sector for the last 8 years; teaching, designing and managing Movers&Makers SEN holiday camps in partnership with Merton Mencap, as well as running weekly Portico bloom children’s creative workshops in Lambeth to exhibit their creations at West Norwood FEAST festival. She has continued to work in theatre and film recently designed an Opera North touring show and painted costumes for the English National Ballet.
Jessie loves rhythm and dance and really enjoys boxing classes, playing her bodhran drum and seeing live music and comedy. She is also partial to opportunities to wear costumes and apply costume make up!
Her role model is Frida Kahlo for her determination in life, almost contradictory nature, and her both beautiful and powerful art creations.
