Samantha is a Foundation Stage teacher. She attended Rhodes University where she completed a Bachelor of Commerce and then went on to complete a PGCE in Foundation Phase Education. During that time Samantha was awarded a Nedbank Bursary towards her academic studies and was placed on the Dean’s List for Academic Merit – achieving 70% and above overall for 3 years in a row.
She has a passion for learning and a respect for education which she believes provides the environment, community and structure to build the confidence, competence, respect, maturity and self-discipline one needs in the ever-changing and fast-paced world of today.
Samantha is currently in her eighth year of teaching and in this time has been a class teacher for Reception, Year 1 and Year 2, both in South Africa and more recently the UK. The combined experience and knowledge gained from being part of and exposed to a variety of schools (both private and state) and age groups in KS1, has given her the confidence and equipped her to cope with the dynamic learning environment of today’s classroom. At the same time, she has also had the opportunity to tutor individuals on a one-to-one basis to support and strengthen areas of weakness, consolidate learning and extend learning if needed.
Her hobbies include running, Pilates and more recently practicing yoga and meditation. She enjoys reading and has a passion for baking and food.
Her role model is her father as he raised her as a single parent and taught her first hand that anything is possible with hard work and determination.
