Shahnaz used to run the kids club at an independent cinema, where she planned and delivered games, pre-show prizes and post movie birthday parties, but for the last 7 years Shahnaz has been a history teacher, running a department with the aim of creating critical thinkers who can go out in to the world with a well-rounded world view, equipped to challenge fake news. As result she is a confident public speaker who loves working with groups of young people and listening to their ideas about the world, always throwing in the a few demanding questions of her own along the way!

Shahnaz’s role model is Hayley Williams of Paramore. Hayley fronts one of the most talented touring bands in the world yet wears her heart on her sleeve, and has always managed to combine humility with confidence in her undeniable talent. Shahnaz has never met Hayley, but she hopes to, so she can thank her for teaching her to be who she is, not what anyone else expects.
