Develop confidence & teamwork skills

The Collaboration Course is designed to help your child:

  • work effectively as part of a team
  • build strong communication skills
  • develop confidence in presenting
  • assert themselves

Be a great communicator

The course includes interview preparation & public speaking, focusing on confidence and both verbal and non-verbal communication. This is very useful for those approaching and preparing for 11+ or other types of interviews. These interviews increasingly now focus on group work and how your child interacts with others, so developing collaboration skills can be a helpful form of preparation.

What activities will the children do?

The course includes fun activities which encourage the children to explore ways of working together to solve team challenges and timed exercises. They will learn about compromise, flexibility and the importance of listening. Specific activities include working as a team to herd ‘blind sheep’ into a pen using only noises under timed conditions, as well as making a team tower as tall as possible.

Please watch our Parent Webinar below to get a better idea of what our Collaboration course involves. This includes an overview of what your child will learn, together with ideas and strategies for supporting their learning at home:

BISR

How does it work?

Our courses are available for children aged 5-7, 8-10 & 11-13. They typically run for either 3 or 5 consecutive days.

Getting to know your child

All our courses are run in small groups. This ensures our Role Model can get to know each child individually.

To help with this, before the course begins, we ask you to answer a few questions about your child and any specific needs they might have. We will also ask about food allergies, medical conditions and any additional needs that our Role Model needs to know about.

It will only take a minute or two, and it ensures our Role Model has all the information they need to ensure your child has the best experience possible.

Included with all our courses...

  • Each day the role model will email you a summary, describing what was covered so you can discuss it with your child. They may also include photos of your child taking part in the activities (if consent has been given).
  • At the end of the course you'll receive a set of top-tips on how you can support the development of life skills at home.
  • Your child will receive a branded official certificate to recognise completion of the course.
  • You'll also receive a written report from the Role Model working with your child, highlighting their strengths and areas for further development.
  • Finally, after the course has finished you'll receive follow up videos, that you can watch with your child. These aim to remind your child of the key course themes.

COVID-19 Policy

At Role Models, our priority is the welfare of our students and staff. We have therefore put strict health & safety policies in place to minimize risks related to COVID-19 (Coronavirus).

My daughter loved her course and was very motivated to attend each week. She grew in confidence in her learning and it was lovely to see her participating and overcoming her anxiety of speaking up in unfamiliar situations. A brilliant course - thank you so much!

My daughter really enjoyed the course and was totally engaged despite initial reservations. Amy delivered the sessions in a sensitive and appropriate way making sure that my daughter was fully included despite her communication difficulties and access issues. She has taken to heart the learnings from the course which, I hope, will stand her in good stead in the future. Thank you Role Models for a truly excellent course.

The topics covered are interesting and so useful for my sons development. He is understanding concepts and learning skills which he would never be able to do otherwise Amy keeps the group moving along and makes sure that the attendees are interested and have a good time. She creates a lovely atmosphere

How has the content been developed?

Our courses follow an education framework developed by teachers, education experts and business leaders. This framework, based on the work of the Partnership for 21st century learning', defines the skills and knowledge that children need to thrive at school, at home and beyond.

Our courses have been written by our Character Education team who are highly qualified educators with over 24 years of teaching experience. Our content emphasises the importance of developing essential key life skills alongside academic attainment, in order to thrive in life.

Who delivers the content?

Our highly experienced team of Role Models are passionate about both education and social & emotional wellbeing. They’re energetic, engaging and curious. What type of child is this course designed for?

Our courses are not designed only for those who may be struggling with specific life skills. We believe all children can build on these essential skills in order to reach their full potential. Your child may need a boost in confidence, to strengthen their resilience or they may just need an opportunity to go outside of their comfort zone and challenge themselves by working with new people.

What is the Extended Day Package?

At some venues we are able to look after your child for additional hours before and after the usual course time. We call this the Extended Day package. Outside of the course hours, one of our Role Models will run some extra-curricular games and activities.

An Extended Day Package costs between £15 and £25 depending on the number of hours of additional childcare. If this is available, it will be listed at the top of the course page, showing the specific hours and the price. If the message is not shown at the top of the course page, then we don’t offer an extended day at this venue.

It will also be shown at the checkout as an optional extra, charged for each day of the course. If you would like to use the Extended Day facility but only on specific days, please call or email us with your requirements.
