Volunteer guidance and agreement

What you will be doing;

  • Supporting the Role Model where needed in delivery of our course content
  • Providing extra 1-2-1 or group support for the children. This will mean they gain more from the course than they otherwise would have done
  • Helping to organise resources in preparation for each day and helping to pack up on the last day. Hours will be 9:30-3:30 each day and from 9am on day 1.
  • Offering helpful feedback to the Role Model on what you have noticed about the children’s progress
  • Ensuring children are engaged, well behaved, safe and happy throughout the week

Role Models will provide;

  • A commitment to support and supervision. You will be introduced to the Lead Role Model on the course who will be your point of contact on site, and you will always be able to contact someone in the office
  • A healthy and safe working environment
  • Equality of opportunity and diversity
  • A fair and quick resolution to problems
  • A Role Models Certificate of Volunteering
  • A reference from the Role Model that you work with
  • An increased awareness and understanding of life skills and how to develop them in young people
  • Your travel and lunch expenses covered

You will agree to;

  • Perform your volunteering role to the best of your ability
  • Familiarise yourself with and adhere to the organisation’s policies, procedures and standards, including health and safety procedures and its equal opportunities policy in relation to its staff, volunteers and clients
  • Maintain the confidential information of the organisation and of its clients
  • Not to use inappropriate language
  • Treat staff, children and clients with dignity and respect
  • Complete a volunteer DBS check
  • Volunteers have a duty to safeguard children from harm, and to report any concerns they have. This includes physical, emotional and sexual abuse, or neglect. Volunteers should familiarise themselves with our Safeguarding Policy and procedures and the Prevent initiative, and ensure they are aware of the processes to follow if they have concerns about a child
  • Volunteers own social media platforms should not be shared with any children
  • You are expected to attend for the duration of the course, apart from in exceptional circumstances, and to give us 12 hours’ notice if you cannot. Please note that you will not be given a reference, certificate or your allowance if you are unable to attend for the full course.
