In such a big city, there’s no end to the number of days out you could have with your children. However, teaming up fun with education can prove a slightly difficult task sometimes! Don’t worry, we’ve got a few ideas that are perfect for combining learning with laughter! Her are five places which you can do for an educational day with your children.
Kew Gardens is a lush expanse of biodiverse greenery that is the perfect place to have a fun educational day with your children. They can learn the power of conservation and explore the wonders of the natural world whilst they burn off some energy. A stroll along the Treetop Walkway will give them some perspective of nature’s prowess, the Log Trail is great for running off some steam and the new Children’s Garden provides interactive learning on everything plants need to grow! Not to mention the life-sized badger’s den, where they can explore the life of an animal: not bad for one day out!

An indoor city run by kids – that’s the tagline of this impressive play centre in White City. Attached to Westfields shopping centre, Kidzania provides an interactive educational experience for children between the ages of 4 and 14. The idea is for them to explore and learn about the adult world through role-playing. It’s a great way for your children to explore potential future career positions, ranging from TV presenters and scientists to photographers and professional athletes. The centre’s programme supports the national curriculum whilst providing a totally unique experience for your children! Such a great fun yet educational day out!

The Science Museum is one of the best educational spaces for kids that London has to offer. As well as the countless interactive activities to learn about our universe, there is now a space downstairs for them to step inside and become a scientist! Wonderlab: The Equinor Gallery has fifty mind-boggling exhibits and hosts live science shows all about the beauty of maths and science in our everyday lives.

This is a classic capital day out experience. London Zoo is one of the oldest and most beloved zoos in the country. Home to over 17,000 animals, there’s no shortage of things to explore and discover here. From the Penguin Beach to the Gorilla Kingdom, Rainforest Life to the Land of the Lions, there’s so much to learn about and observe. There is something at ZSL for all ages and is sure to get your child intrigued about animals and the wild.

Often overlooked because of the bigger museums and education centres in London, the Royal Observatory & Planetarium is a hidden gem that still packs a big, fun educational punch. Your children can have a walk around the gardens, learn about Greenwich Meantime (GMT) and be educated on the awe-inspiring wonders of the universe inside its 360° cinema experience. This is a great day out for any budding astronomer.
